World War 2 was by far the most significant event of the 20th century. It brought many casualties from every side who fought, and plenty of cities and towns were destroyed in the process. was it worth it?

The beginning of world war 2 is a good way to start a long debate. Theories ranging from a continuos world war 1 that ceased for a few years to when Germany invaded Poland back in September 1, 1939. Multiple nations were at war with each other, some fighting for the ultimately victorious Allies and some for the Axis.
D-Day was the turning point for the war. It gave the Allies a huge advantage over the axis. It involved an attack on a beach that was heavily fortified by German forced and an air attack that involved over 1000 paratroopers parachuting down behind enemy lines .

Pearl harbor is another attack over seas, but this time U.S. got attacked by surprise, and it wasn't by the germans but by the Japanese.

The Holocaust was Hitlers attempt to annihilate 6 million jews. By 1945, 2 out of every 3 jews were killed by a 'murderer'.
This was they way that the Jews were getting killed.
On August 15, 1945, Japan finally surrendered. Finally after years of battles, world war 2 ended. Even though this began a new era of nuclear weapons.
